Supervised visitation across Manhattan

Manhattan is its own county — New York County — and runs thirteen miles from the Battery to Inwood. A parent in Washington Heights and a parent in the Financial District are an hour apart by subway, and that geography matters when a court orders supervised visitation. Most providers schedule from one fixed office, which forces the parent who lives farthest away to absorb the burden of every trip.

TruVisit New York does it differently. Our supervisors meet families at mutually convenient public locations across the borough, chosen with the child's comfort, subway access for both parties, and the court order's safety conditions in mind. We don't charge travel fees. We don't charge for the supervisor's commute.

Manhattan neighborhoods we regularly serve

  • Upper East Side & Yorkville
  • Harlem & East Harlem
  • Washington Heights & Inwood
  • Morningside Heights & Hamilton Heights
  • Midtown & Hell's Kitchen
  • Chelsea & Flatiron
  • Greenwich Village & the East Village

Common Manhattan meet-up locations

Locations are selected case-by-case based on the court order, the child's age, and what makes sense for the visit. Public, family-appropriate venues we use regularly:

  • Central Park — multiple family areas, playgrounds, and the Conservatory Water
  • Riverside Park (Upper West Side)
  • Carl Schurz Park (Upper East Side)
  • Washington Square Park (Greenwich Village)
  • Bryant Park (Midtown)
  • Fort Tryon Park (Washington Heights)
  • Children's Museum of Manhattan (indoor option, Upper West Side)
  • New York Public Library branches with children's rooms
  • Hudson River Park piers and family areas
  • Family-appropriate restaurants throughout the Upper West Side, Chelsea, and the Village

New York winters run cold. From December through March we lean toward indoor venues — museums, libraries, and family-friendly restaurants — for the child's comfort and consistent visit quality.

The New York County Family Court

Custody and visitation petitions for Manhattan families are heard at the New York County Family Court — the Manhattan branch of the New York City Family Court. Custody issues raised within a divorce are heard in the Supreme Court, New York County. Our session reports are formatted in the objective, non-editorial, timestamped style these courts expect.

Supervised visitation in New York is ordered under the framework of Domestic Relations Law §240 and the Family Court Act. For the broader process, see our guide to the New York Family Court process.

If your court order is from the New York County Family Court or Supreme Court Have a copy of the order ready when you start intake. The two things we most need to confirm: the type of supervision ordered (full supervised visitation vs. monitored exchange vs. therapeutic), and any specific location or duration requirements written in the order. We can typically schedule a first session within 48–72 hours of intake completion.
