The New York pricing landscape
Supervised visitation pricing in New York varies widely — and the New York City metro is one of the most expensive markets in the country. Based on publicly listed rates from private providers operating in the region, the typical structure looks like this:
- Hourly rate: commonly $100 to $200+ per hour in the NYC metro for the supervisor's time during a session; often somewhat lower upstate
- Intake / setup fee: roughly $100 to $300 one-time at many providers
- Monthly case management fee: charged by some providers
- Session report fee: a separate per-report charge at some providers
- Travel charges: often added when the supervisor travels to a meet-up
- Cancellation fees: common, often equal to the full session cost if cancelled inside 24–48 hours
- Court appearance / testimony fees: hourly, plus prep time
For a typical family with two 2-hour visits per month, the combined cost at a higher-end New York provider can easily run well over $800–$1,000 per month once all fees are included.
What about agency or program-based supervision?
Some New York courts refer qualifying families to agency- or program-based supervised visitation, often run by nonprofit organizations. For families who qualify, these programs can be low-cost or free — but capacity is limited, waiting lists are common, and visits are usually restricted to the program's site and hours. Many families use a private provider because they need faster starts, weekend availability, or community-based venues.
How TruVisit New York's pricing compares
TruVisit New York was built around the belief that professional supervised visitation should not be financially out of reach — even in the most expensive market in the country. Our pricing is intentionally simple:
- $150 one-time intake fee — paid once at the start of your case
- $65/hour for supervised sessions or monitored exchange
- No travel charges
- No monthly case management fee
- No cancellation fees for advance notice (24+ hours)
For the same family with two 2-hour visits per month: $260/month in session time after the one-time intake. That is a fraction of what comparable New York metro providers charge.
What you should look for in any quote
- What is the all-in cost per visit? Hourly rate × minimum session length + any other per-visit charges.
- Is there a monthly recurring fee?
- Are travel fees added?
- What is the cancellation policy?
- What's the cost for court testimony or attorney communication?
- Is there a minimum session length?
Who pays
The New York court order or stipulation typically specifies which parent is responsible for the cost. In many New York orders, the parent whose parenting time is being supervised bears the cost; other orders split it or allocate it based on the parties' finances. The order controls.
